Dealing With Your Past

Our past can be our worse enemy or our greatest ally. All of us suffer from wounds from the past inflicted by people we love and friends and often also inflicted by ourselves. In Christ, we find the encouragement to redeem our past. Redeeming our past is incredibly important to finding peace and hope in our present and moving forward to a bright future. As we experience life in Jesus, we are invited to forgive, set our hearts free from past wounds, and love others and ourselves. The past can be our greatest ally because it can make us wise, but it can be our worse enemy because it can chain us to past regrets, bitterness, and hopelessness.

In Christ, we find the wisdom to grow a healthy relationship with our past, grow from previous painful experiences, and move forward toward a future of growth. Paul put it this way: "Brothers (and sisters), I do not count myself to have attained, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press towards the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13-14 (ESV)

There’s empowerment in moving toward the future God has for us. Epic Church is a community that redirects people’s hearts to Christ, the only One who can redeem our past. I invite you to join us this coming Sabbath and join a life group. You’ll find a healing community encouraging you to draw closer to Christ.
